Free Film Screening: Handmade Future

The Work of Our Hands is excited to invite our community to a free screening of the award-winning film Handmade Future in celebration of Fair Trade Month!
Join us on Tuesday, October 27, at 7:00 PM at Central College in the Maytag Student Center, Van Emmerik Studio, for an inspiring evening celebrating the people, traditions, and craftsmanship behind the things we bring into our lives.
Handmade Future follows artisans in six countries as they protect cultural heritage, navigate complex middlemen, and advance responsible trade. In a world increasingly driven by fast, cheap production, these artisans are building a different kind of future—one rooted in beauty, human connection, and respect for the people behind handmade goods.
The film offers a powerful reminder that what we make and what we buy can have a meaningful impact. By supporting artisans and fair trade practices, we can help preserve traditional skills, strengthen communities, and create a more thoughtful and connected world.
At The Work of Our Hands, we believe in the value of handmade work and the stories, skills, and people behind every piece. We are thrilled to share Handmade Future with our community as an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the difference that responsible trade can make.
