We, The Work of Our Hands, believe that consumer choices can make a real difference in the lives of artisans, farmers, and their families. Often times, the products people buy are made in conditions that harm workers, communities, and the environment, as well as disproportionately benefit large companies rather than the producers themselves. However, the more consumers demand ethical and environmentally-conscious products, the better we can change the conditions under which products and food are produced.
The Work of Our Hands is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation, an association that strengthens, promotes, and validates fair trade organizations in the U.S. and Canada. As members of the Fair Trade Federation, we work with wholesalers that provide equitable wages to artisans, maintain transparent relationships, and cultivate a culture of mutual respect. There are nine ethical principles that we follow which we will share throughout October.
