Drawn, cut, and stitched by top Peruvian arpillera artists. The Peruvian Arpillera Folk Art tradition began in the 1970s when social upheaval forced Andean communities to move to the outskirts of Lima, Peru. Families were forced to start over. With creativity and skillful hands, the displaced women learned new skills, and so arpilleras were born.
